ScoutheDoggie: Best Airsoft Videos?

If you are into the sport of airsoft then you probably watch airsoft videos. Most of the time you get on http://www.youtube.com/ and just type in "airsoft wars" or something like that. A lot of times you get some useless "backyard" airsoft videos that are just a bunch of kids who have thirty-dollar guns. But if you are looking at proffessional vids, there is one name that stands out from the rest. There is a guy named ScouttheDoggie who makes arguably the best proffessional airsoft videos. He visits many different fields and the games there are normally about 80 vs. 80. They are all proffessionals who spend quite a bit of cash on this sport. These are the kind of videos you will want to watch because they show fields, tactics, and demo guns all at once. This is where I go to watch all my airsoft videos. Considering he has over 300 videos, it might take you awhile. Learning from the pros is the best way to learn. Enjoy!

Tactical Vests: Taken for Granted?

When you see any professional airsoft game, you might notice there is one piece of tactical gear the pros always have. If you couldn't tell by the title, yes it is a tactical vest. Get on any airsoft website and if they have gear, rest assured the tactical vest will be right there with it. Sometimes you have to think about what it would be like if you didn't have it. Where would you store your spare mags, pistols, and other equipment? Your pockets of the ACU's can only hold so much. Without this wonderful creation we would be at a loss from a tactical standpoint.

Land Mines: What's the Use?

Most of you probably haven't heard of the airsoft  land minedue to their inability to catch on. There are two varients, one that projects powder and one that shoots water. Now the idea behind it is that it will act as a real mine and "explode" when stepped on. Now, I really don't see the importance of having a land mine that sprays water. Let me go and get a sprinkler and I gurranty it would protect the position better. And who really thinks that powder is going to stop an invading army? That just takes to much imagination for me. So, from my perspective, you're better to use this as a $44 paperweight.

Airsplat vs. Evike

Arguably the two biggest names in airsoft distribution are http://www.airsplat.com/ and http://www.evike.com/. Both of these sites offer great competitive prices and many different airsoft options, but there is one that really stands out to me. In my personal opinion, I believe that Evike is the victor in this face-off. Even just looking at their prices, you can see a major difference. They offer more variety as well, with many more options. Even the way their page is set up is more consumer-friendly. I believe that both sites are top-of-the-line, but Evike has a small advantage.

The Minigun: Useful or Just Plain Overkill?

The M134 Minigun is considered one of the most expensive and best airsoft guns by many people. Others believe that there is no point to it. Although these guns usually have an fps of about 400 and use a 12 volt battery, I really see no point in it. It just seems very impractical in a combat situation. You would have to lug around this giant beast first of all. Plus, the manufuncturer states that it fires up to 6000 rounds per second, easily using up the 1700 round magazine in no time. When you fire the gun you have to totally expose yourself to incoming fire. All in All, I really see no reason to spend so much money on something like this. In my opinion this gun is complete overkill.

What You Might Need For A Competition

Do you have an airsoft competition coming up? Not sure what you might need? The list below has everything that you might need for your upcoming competition.

  • Main Weapon (AEG, Spring, Gas)
  • Plenty of replacement batteries in case your AEG battery runs out
  • Back-up AEG (In case your main weapon has an issue)
  • Pistols w/ plenty of magazines
  • LOTS of magazines! You can never have enough magazines replacement magazines!
  • Tactical Vest to hold all of your magazines and other important items
  • Map of the sorrounding area (if possible)
  • Some form of entertainment for when you are not competing
  • Cleaning kit for weapon

You can find any of these items at either http://www.airsplat.com/ or http://www.evike.com/ for good prices.

AEG's

Electric guns are battery-powered and use a gearbox to compress a spring that when released shoots the BB out of the barrel. AEG's are normally powered by a rechargeable battery that works the inner mechanism. These guns usually obtain an fps, or feet per second, of about 200-450. They normally have a selector device that can achieve semi-automatic, 3-round burst, or full-automatic. Over the past few years, the AEG market has been swamped by many different cheaper-quality guns that may only reach about 200 fps at most. The three most common models of electric guns are M4/M16 series, G36 series, SCAR/MK. 16 series, and most recently, the FN2000 series. Arguably two of the best makers of AEG's are the Tokyo Marui and Classic Army brands. Both of the companies make state-of-the-art realistic AEG's that fire well. Most of the batteries used in AEG's are "stick" batteries that can fit easily inside the guns. Most batteries only last a few hours of continous fire, so if you are entering a competition, you will need lots of different ones. I hope this post has been helpful to anyone considering an AEG.
